Vynspiration – privacy/summer fireplace screen
If you have read my previous post, you know that I am a big fan of our willow screens. I was thinking about the impending Spring & Summer when I am going to have to shut down the fireplace I have been spending so much time curling up next too (I sound like I am a kitten LOL), okay, sitting beside. I really enjoy relaxing by the fire in the evenings. It saddens me a bit when we finally shut off the gas and it merely becomes something I have to dust and clean finger prints off of. To brighten things up, I have created a beautiful hand made spring fireplace screen.
Using the willow screen as a base, I have added some of our blossom branches, palm leaves & curly ting to stylize it.
It is a unique custom piece of art you can offer your clients. Make sure they know to bring it back to you each season for a freshen up of colour to match their decor! Our screens come in Blonde and Mahogany.
Enjoy!

CGTA show
Hi all,
We are fresh back from the gift show and we’re so glad to have reconnected face to face with our customers. There is just something about meeting in person that is so wonderful!
Our iPad giveaway was a huge success! We were pretty excited about giving away such a cool new tool and we can’t wait to scroll through our new catalogue for Fall and Christmas on one! So, who won the iPad? I will reveal the winner next week, so you will just have to come back to check it out…
If you missed the show, we snapped some photos which you will find below. I hope you’ve had time to check out our Spring and Summer catalogue. We have incorporated some in situation photos so you can see our product in action. These photos are our way of inspiring you. We hope they help stoke the fire for a prosperous and creative year ahead in your shops. Don’t worry, we have plenty more pictures in our Fall and Christmas catalogue which will be launched across the web soon. Look for it in your email box!
We will be back at the August gift show – same location – so please make a plan to pop by and say hello.
See you soon,
The Vyn Team
Word on the street
Hey all,
We here at Vyn have had some pretty encouraging conversation with our clients about our new catalogues. This year we did not want to simply display our product in the typical catalogue style, we wanted to inspire you with images of our product in the home. If you have perused our Spring 2011 catalogue, you will find our Spa, Colorful Cruising, and Seasoned Garden themes.
Now, tell me those spa-themed pictures don’t harken you to a relaxing and rejuvenating moment! I can hear the spa music right now. I love the handmade sola balls and flowers and I want to sing the praises of our willow screen today.
In my home, we have an en suite bathroom. It is a lovely little room, but for one reason or another, right in front of our tub, we have 3 large windows. This layout makes for an awkward moment if the blinds are left open and I happen to walk by the window while getting ready for my day (blushing here!). So I picked up 3 of our willow screens and they now sit in front of the windows. I just love the privacy they bring while keeping with the natural spa feeling I want to walk into every morning! They are very functional and being collapsible and free standing, they make it easy for your clients to transport from your shop to their home. It also makes it handy for stocking and storing at your shop. Set up is quick and straightforward. Anyone who uses them is sure to have a speedy, successful installation.
Another great place for your customers to use these willow screens is on their balcony in an apartment or condo. Add a few for privacy or to anchor a plantscape. The willow screens are able to create an excellent backdrop for summer climbing vines and can provide a few more feet of vertical privacy from the rushing traffic and pedestrians. I have also often seen our willow screens displayed in the large planter boxes along sidewalk cafés in Toronto.
The willow screen is not just for display in your store, but for beauty and function in the home or garden!
Please find below some images taken from our catalogue shoot (not my bathroom).

Giddy!
Giddy!
Yes, I am giddy about the images I have for you today. My friend Holly Chapple of Holly Heider Chapple & The Full Bouquet – a phenomenal florist in Leesburg, Virginia graciously sent along some images from her lovely website.
Holly has a luxurious style of design; she melds natural dried & hand made elements seamlessly into her fresh wedding design. The result is a truly unique tablescape for her clients discerning taste.
The combination of preserved exotics among fresh is a very natural pairing. Most of us just don’t put theses elements together. We think of either fresh or preserved designs but not a mix. The truth is, pairing them together can bring an unexpected long lasting element that is both creative and unique to your company. You can set your designs apart from the shop down the street with this little addition and the cost is quite minimal compared to fresh flowers. Our cane springs (which I love), curly ting and cane curls in bold colour such as red, hot pink, purple and green are fabulous in party work for the young and young at heart.
In the 2 examples pictured below you can see the botanicals are kept natural in colour. They add a beautiful tactile element which guest can reach out and feel. It takes this design from being a single centerpiece to a richer more elaborate “table scape”. It is these inexpensive details your customers will be thrilled with, showing them that you were focused on their important event.
The clever use of a grape vine ball for the Bride and Groom chair décor is a simple but unique idea. This design can be a quick creation but the character it adds is worthy of a upscale price tag.
Gold in the fresh flower world is another name for yellow, however you can see in this colour rich design, yellow just wouldn’t cut it. Holly added depth to the design by choosing gold lotus pods and gold artichoke. I love the way the smooth matt finish contrast the deep soft fresh florals. It is a nice bridge between the hardness of the vessel and the softness of the flowers.
Take a scroll through our catalogue and see what unexpected and unique elements you can bring to your fresh designs!
We will be featuring more of Hollys creation on our blog soon! If you can’t get enough visit her website at www.hollychappleflowers.com and her blog at http://hollychappleflowers.typepad.com/
